The Long Beach Marathon team is continuing to monitor the expected temperatures for this weekend’s race. At this time, the new, earlier start schedule will remain in place. No additional measures are being implemented at this time.
UPDATED START SCHEDULE:
- Wheelchair (Marathon and Half Marathon) will start at 5:25 AM PDT
- Marathon will begin at 5:30 AM PDT
- Bike Tour will start at 5:30 AM PDT
- Half Marathon will begin at 6:30 AM PDT
(No changes to the start schedule of Saturday, October 5th’s Aquarium of the Pacific 5K are currently being implemented.)
Our team will continue to monitor the weather and are prepared to make any necessary adjustments to ensure a safe experience for everyone. Potential changes may include, but are not limited to, altered start times, modified race distances, adjusted course time limits and more.

Tuesday, October 1, 2024 – 1:00pm PDT
With temperatures expected to reach around 90°F on Sunday, October 6th, the Long Beach Marathon team has been in ongoing discussions with the City of Long Beach, Police Department, Fire Department, Medical team, and other government agencies regarding event safety. Based on these conversations, we’ve decided to shift the race’s start schedule 30 minutes earlier.
- Wheelchair (Marathon and Half Marathon) will start at 5:25 AM PDT

We are expecting unusually warm weather in Long Beach, CA this weekend. Participant, volunteer, staff, and attendee safety remains our top priority.
